Music Generation are a new and exciting organisation that create further opportunities for music education within the county. Music Generation provide localities with access to instruments and music teachers. Music Generation Tipperary aim to give young musicians an opportunity to meet up with other like-minded people and to give them more outlets for their musical expression via a local hub, concerts, summer camps, online hubs and perhaps even playing support to bands at festivals. Often as a young musician it can be difficult to find people your own age with similar interests.. Music Generation changes all of that. Music is about making connections, expressing oneself and having fun doing it.
Music Generation Tipperary are looking to set up a hub in the Newport area. What does that mean? It means that they would organise classes on instruments like drums, ukulele, fiddle, clarinet or groups for traditional Irish music or a rock band. Newport College would welcome such a positive cultural influence in the area and are delighted to offer our school as a venue for a hub on this side of the county.
Music generation will work with students aged between 10 — 18. Note that students do not have to be from Tipperary to avail of this opportunity. All levels from beginner to advanced are welcome and classes would run after normal school hours. It would be a shame to miss out on an opportunity like this so please contact music[email protected] with all your questions. They will be able to run classes provided there is a demand for it within the area.
