Qualification: FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education

For Whom: This course is designed for Adults and PLC students who wish to pursue a career in the childcare sector.

Course Content: Modules may include: Child Development, Early Childhood Education and Play, Early Care and Education Practice, Child Health and Well Being, Communications, Work Experience, Children with Additional Needs, Word Processing and Disability Awareness (Level 6).

Assessment: A variety of modes of assessments may be used including assignments, collection of work, examinations, learning records, projects and skills demonstrations.

Progression: As a holder of this qualification you are eligible to apply to Certificate, Ordinary degree and Honours degree courses through the Higher Education Links Scheme.

Work as: Qualified Childcare Worker/ Room Leader; Classroom Assistant; Special Needs Assistant; Child-minder.

Work in: Crèches; School Aged Children Services; Schools as Assistants; Residential Homes
