Hurling

Our year began in the Mungret Gaa grounds where our seniors opened with a stern test against St Clements. This was a friendly on paper but turned out to be more physical than anticipated. We gave as good as we got against the strong Limerick city team and after a slow start we were narrowly edged out by 4 points. We blooded quite a few youngsters and gave them their first taste of senior schools hurling.
Our juniors also began this year with a friendly, this time in north tipp against templemore. A great performance from the boys against a Harry cup school. The high scoring game finished 7-10 to 5-8 in favour of templemore.
Our seniors then took on Nenagh Collge above in Lacken Park in the Munster championship. We went right well in the first half and saw it out to win in the end. Colaiste Mhuire we’re next and with a good performance, we ran out handy winners for a finish.
It went right down to the wire in the Munster semi final where it was touch and go between ourselves and Mount Sion CBS. Luck wasn’t on our side as Mount Sion goalie saved them from defeat on multiple occasions near the end.
Our juniors had a great run in the championship w beating a strong Mungret side in Mungret. Our lads put in a hearty display and the hurling they’ve done all year will stand to them going forward.
